Trusting God’s Promise to Use Our Suffering for Good - Ep. 106
May 31, 2022 - 16 min
Our world really stinks sometimes. Jesus never promised us an easy and pain free life. To the contrary. He told us to expect trouble, but God also promised our pain wouldn’t last forever and that he’d use our hardships for good. In this episode, Jennifer Slattery talks with stroke survivor Kelly Campbell about the hope that undergirds a spiritually resilient life.

Trusting God’s Promise to Provide – Ep. 105
May 24, 2022 - 14 min
When we think of God’s promise to provide for us, we often think in terms of physical things like food, clothing, and shelter. But if we search the Bible, we find that He promises us other things as well, things like rest and peace and guidance. When it feels like our needs aren’t being met, we can be still, look around us, and find that God is present and providing, even when it feels like nothing is going the way we think it should.

God’s Promise to Place The Lonely in Families – Ep. 104
May 17, 2022 - 15 min
Sadly, we live in an increasingly disconnected culture where many people are forced to endure the pain of loneliness. Others, perhaps having felt isolated in the past, have developed a strong fear of loneliness. Still others, due to previous wounds, have come to expect rejection and, out of fear of future hurt, remain in emotional hiding. If any of these scenarios resonate with you, be encouraged: God planted the need for connection deep within the human heart, which means He doesn’t want us to live disconnected and He invites us to trust Him to lead us to those with whom we can feel seen, known, and loved.

Trusting God's Presence to Guide Us - Ep. 101
April 26, 2022 - 15 min
No matter how smart, wise, strategic, or well-educated we are, we will all encounter situations during which we need supernatural guidance. In fact, if we want to experience the rich and satisfying life Christ desires for us, we need His wisdom every moment of every day. Because our wisdom is limited and our perception often faulty, when we rely on ourselves, we’re inevitably setting ourselves up for problems. Thankfully, God provides numerous ways we can discern the best course of action for every situation.

Healing from Religious Abuse, with Philip Yancey (Re-Air)
March 29, 2022 - 32 min
This week, we're re-airing one of our most popular episodes to date - Jennifer's interview with Philip Yancey!

Philip Yancey’s fire-and-brimstone fundamentalist upbringing temporarily drove him from the church. In this environment, where he learned to play the part, his identity became confused. By the time he reached college, his pain turned to anger and religious mockery, which only led to further rejection. Others viewed him as the rebel, the outcast, the trouble-maker.

But God penetrated the walls he had built around himself, helped him untangle all the falsehoods he’d learned from truth, and set him on a road of healing and freedom. In this episode, Yancey shares his journey, his heart for those who have been deeply hurt in the name of religion, as well as some insights as to how those who haven’t experienced this much trauma can be instruments of healing for those who have.
