Episode 134. What if this is the summer it all changes—for the better? ☀️

Today we dive into what it means to experience summer without alcohol, and why that might be the very thing your soul is craving.

Whether you’re newly sober-curious, starting your first alcohol-free summer, or coming back to this journey after a break, this conversation is packed with grace, encouragement, and practical tools.

We talk about everything from mom culture and rosé memes to airplane triggers, BBQ season, and how to handle your first AF vacation.

Plus, why starting now (not in September) might just be the best decision you make all year.

You’ll walk away with encouragement, mindset shifts, and a whole new way of seeing summer, not as something to survive, but something to savor.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

  • Why summer can be the time to start your sober journey
  • How to spot your summer triggers & plan ahead
  • How to prep for your first alcohol-free trip or poolside hang
  • The problem of "I’ll just wait until September"

Meet Your Host
We’re Christy Osborne and Meade Holland Shirley—co-hosts of the But Jesus Drank Wine podcast and co-founders of a faith-based ministry helping women break free from alcohol and walk boldly into the freedom Jesus offers. Our paths to freedom looked different, but led to the same truth: Jesus offers more than sobriety—He offers deep, lasting transformation.

Christy, a former lawyer with a background in law, business, and politics, experienced radical renewal after choosing sobriety. Now a senior sobriety coach and author of Love Life Sober (Penguin Random House), she helps women renew their minds and rediscover joy through a powerful blend of faith, neuroscience, and practical tools.

Meade, a former pharmaceutical rep and stay-at-home mom, looked like she had it all together—but felt stuck in a nightly-ish wine habit. Once she realized the issue was less about drinking and more about thinking, everything changed. Now a senior certified coach and creator of the Change-Your-Thinking-to-Change-Your-Drinking method and The Missing P.E.A.C.E. framework, Meade helps women ditch shame, reclaim purpose, and live with peace and joy.

Together, we create loving, Spirit-led spaces where women can explore their relationship with alcohol, renew their minds, and pursue the freedom they were made for.

Christy lives in Surrey, England; Meade outside Atlanta. We're just two women who surrendered our wine glasses, found something far better in Jesus, and now have the joy of helping others do the same.
