A Prayer for a New Day Dawning with Stacey Thacker

In motherhood, moments of silence are rare and most often linked to trouble. God's people waited in silence for 400 years. On today's episode of the Everyday Prayers Podcast, we look at how Luke 1 paints a picture of people sitting in darkness, waiting for God to speak again after 400 years of silence. Into this longing, Zechariah announces that the Sunrise from heaven is coming to bring light, salvation, and peace.Just as morning light overtakes the night without resistance, Jesus arrives as God’s tender mercy in human form, shining into despair and guiding His people toward peace.

Prayer: Father, thank you that you are merciful and ready to help us in our darkness and despair. You didn't let the shadow of death win. You sent your son - the day spring heaven's first light and the bright morning star to show us the way of peace. Oh Lord, keep sending the light of the gospel to be born afresh in our hearts today and every day. In Jesus name, amen.
