God did not just command His people to rest on the seventh day but to work on the other six. The Hebrew word for work (avodah) can also be translated as service or worship. So in the Hebraic worldview all of life is sacred, and our work is an expression of our service and worship of God. Unfortunately, much of the western world has a Greek mindset in which we compartmentalize and separate life into either sacred or the secular. But we should have no such division—all of life is sacred and we should do everything as unto the Lord.

For over 40 years, Dr. Susan Michael has advanced the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) in the USA and worldwide. She serves as USA President and sits on the ICEJ’s international Board of Directors. She is frequently asked to address complex issues to diverse audiences—including antisemitism, Islam, Jewish-Christian relations, and Middle East affairs—and does so with clarity and grace.

Susan’s involvement with the ICEJ began as a graduate student at Jerusalem University College in 1980, the same year that the Christian Embassy was first established. Upon completing her master’s degree in Judeo-Christian Studies, she returned from Israel with a heart to further the Embassy’s mission among fellow Americans. After a season assisting the ministry’s international leadership to host a series of high-profile pro-Israel conferences across the United States, she was asked to head up the ICEJ’s USA Branch.

In addition to a master’s degree in Judeo-Christian Studies, she holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Oral Roberts University and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws by Piedmont International University in 2018.

Dr. Michael leads the American Christian Leaders for Israel (ACLI), has authored books, such as Encounter the 3D Bible: How to Read the Bible So It Comes to Life, and has developed educational resources, including the IsraelAnswers website, ICEJ U online courses, and curricula for Christian colleges.
