Faith Over Fear

When we are anxious or when life feels uncertain, many of us strive for control, making ourselves, rather than Christ, Lord of our lives. The problem is, we don’t have perfect wisdom or supreme power. But God does. When we choose to trust our Savior, our Adonai, to be our Lord by following His lead, we’ll experience increased peace and joy, and often, decreased messes. Host Jennifer Slattery and her husband discovered just how true this was when they found themselves in a seemingly impossible situation where obedience felt hard and risky. Numerous Christ followers fear they’re either not truly saved or that they’ve done something to somehow negate God’s grace. Not only do these fears keep us from fully experiencing the freedom and joy Christ died to give us. But it can also cause us to distance ourselves from God, withdraw from religious events or gatherings, or cause us to live as if our salvation depends on us rather than Christ’s finished work on the cross. When doubts regarding our eternal security rise up, may we remember we belong to El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient God who paid for our sin and fulfilled every righteous requirement on our behalf. We don’t have to strive to be enough because Christ in us is more than enough.Find Jennifer Slattery:On her website at http://jenniferSlatteryLivesoutLoudOn Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/JenSlatteOn Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/slatteryjennifer/Find their ministry at:https://whollyloved.com/Find Shellie Arnold:On her website at https://www.shelliearnold.com/On Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/shellie.arnold.7And at: https://www.facebook.com/YOURMarriageresourcesGroup Discussion Questions:1.What are some reasons people doubt their salvation? 2.What are some ways this doubt can hinder our relationship with Christ?3.What are some ways this doubt can hinder our joy?4.How can doubts regarding one’s eternal security cause them to fall into legalism?5.How can doubts regarding one’s eternal security cause them to withdraw from church and faith-based groups?6.How would you describe God’s all-sufficiency?7.What resonated with you most in this episode?8.What does God’s all-sufficiency mean to you personally, especially in relation to your fears?9.What is one truth God wants you to hold on to this week? God often calls us to step into assignments that are beyond our human capabilities. Each day, He’s inviting us to play an active role in His redemptive mission. When we focus on our limitations, we’ll shrink back. But when we focus on the One who calls us, Yahweh, the Great I Am who always was, is, and forevermore will be humanity’s Self-Revealing Redeemer, we’ll recognize His victory has already been secured. God finishes what He starts. This is the first episode of a new series we are kicking off – The Names of God Series!God hand-crafted you and I to live as vivid and beautiful expressions of Elohim, Creator God. The more we step into who God created us to be, fully expressing our true selves, the more God’s nature shines within us. This is precisely why Satan, our spiritual enemy, works so hard to defeat us. He’ll tell us we’re not good enough, will never amount to anything, and would be better off fading into the sea of conformity. But God calls us to courageously step into our unique callings so that others can see His light shining within. Anxiety can feel isolating and defeating. We may think everyone else has it all together and life all figured out. We may think that no one quite experiences something as enslaving as we do. We might even start to identity with our struggles, thinking we’ll never get better, never move toward increased freedom. If that’s you, then you are precisely the reason Jodie Bailey felt compelled to share her story—because she’s been there. She was the woman who was afraid to leave her house, who felt alone in her struggle, and who desperately prayed for help. Now, standing on freedom’s side of her struggle with Agoraphobia, she has some insights and truths to share.Follow Jodie:https://www.jodiebailey.com/https://www.facebook.com/writerjodiebaileyhttps://www.instagram.com/authorjodiebailey/Follow Jennifer:https://jenniferslatterylivesoutloud.comhttps://www.facebook.com/JenSlattehttps://www.instagram.com/slatteryjennifer/Find Wholly Loved, at:https://www.WhollyLoved.comJoin the private Faith Over Fear Group Here:https://www.facebook.com/groups/442736966614671Group Discussion Questions:1. My life began to change dramatically once I actively, specifically, consistently and persistently praying against my fears specifically, in faith. That’s when I began to experience miraculous intervention. The Lord’s Prayer is probably the most often spoken prayer in all of Christendom. Many of us have grown up reciting the words and often do so without thinking. But when we take time to really meditate on these simply yet profound lines spoken by Jesus Himself, we’ll find our faith and intimacy with Him grows while our fears decrease. We all want to feel understood. Known and accepted. The problem is, no one will truly understand what it’s like to live with anxiety if they themselves haven’t struggled. So what do we do when we’re craving the support of those who “get us” but don’t feel we’re able to receive what we need? In this episode, Jennifer Slattery takes listeners to the root of this need and shares ways we can identify and grow a healthy support system.
