Hello everyone and thank you for joining us on today’s podcast. Today’s topic comes from a very common question we receive a lot about people wanting to know how they can lose weight in certain areas of their body like their belly, arms or legs. This concept is called “spot reduction” and is a very common request. There is a misconception about this idea of being able to lose weight in certain areas of your body that we think everyone deals with at one point in time. We can be very judgemental about our own bodies and it’s easy to see why we may feel that we have to lose weight in only certain parts. But is this a good idea? The way we lose weight when we are active has less to do about slimming down certain parts of our body and more to do with thinking of the body as one complete unit. We felt it was very important to talk about this issue when it comes to weight loss so we can shed some light on these misconceptions. In This Podcast You Will Learn:1). Some of the main reasons why we feel we want to work on only certain parts of our so we can lose weight there and not be concerned with other areas.2). The important relationship between fat and muscle and how both of them are important when it comes to losing weight and feeling healthier overall.3). Some examples of exercises you can do to help slim down the overall fat in your body which in turn lead to slimming down the areas of interest you have,4). Some great ways to help you measure your weight loss results that don’t necessarily involve having to step on a scale everyday.5). How long you it should take (in general) for you to start seeing weight loss results in the areas you want to work on if you are exercising correctly and consistently as well as inheriting a healthy diet.///Thank you again for joining us for this important discussion on spot reduction. After listening to this episode we hope you have a better sense of how the body works when it comes to weight loss and some helpful tips on what you can do to work on the fitness goals you have. Hello and thanks for joining us for this week’s podcast episode! This week we are taking a look at how and why resistance exercises like lifting weights, resistance band training and more can benefit you if you suffer from osteoporosis.“Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, from sneezing or minor bumps.” (Link Here)In the case of exercising, it would seem as though doing any kind of resistance workouts would seem not beneficial for bone health but if done properly, weight training and resistance exercises can actually help strengthen bones along with muscles.Suffering from osteoporosis doesn’t mean you have to be sidelined. Hello and thank you again for joining us for this episode! For today's podcast we're diving into why it's so important to remember that modifying a workout is always available to you when exercising. Workout modifications should always be considered when you are choosing your next exercise routine. Keeping your body safe and healthy is the number one priority in fitness. Becoming injured or sore because you are doing movements that cause pain or put your body at risk is not the outcome we want when exercising. Being able to take a workout and modify the movements so that you can do them safely and securely is key to keeping you up and moving and onto the next exercise. In This Episode You Will Learn: 1). Why it's so important to consider modifying your workouts to adhere to your body and your range of motion and how that can positively affect you mentally and physically. 2). How modifying a workout doesn't always necessarily mean simplifying the exercises, you can also modify workout to make them more intense and challenging or "modifying up". 3). Why Meredith thinks it's important to provide a wide range of variety in workouts that can also be modified up or down. 4). Why it's important to remember that even though you may be following someone during an online workout, it's all about you and getting your exercise in and that's why modifications (if needed) are so important to remember. 5). Why there is nothing wrong with modifying any workout whether online or in person. You know your body best and you can always make the decision to do what best for you. /// Thank you again for joining us for today's podcast. We think it's so important to have a discussion on this topic because we want to make sure that everyone who exercises on a regular basis knows how modifications are healthy and safe for you to implement. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to change movements or routines to fit your needs and we couldn't agree more! Stay safe, happy and healthy!
