Tonight’s Scripture
"We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."1 Thessalonians 1:3

Evening Meditation
Waiting is never easy. In a world of instant results and same-day shipping, patience often feels like a lost virtue. But scripture teaches us that endurance—especially the kind that’s rooted in hope—is not just necessary, it’s sacred.

1 Thessalonians 1:3 tells us that endurance is inspired by hope in Jesus Christ. When we are tempted to quit, hope reminds us of God’s promises. Patience is not passive; it’s active trust in God's timing and character.

Whether it’s a long-awaited answer to prayer or simply getting through a hard day, the presence of God in the waiting is our peace. And when we endure by faith, trusting in His goodness, we become more like Him—full of love, joy, peace, and patience.

Your Nightly Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I confess I hate waiting, but you are worth it. You are patient with me, and your love calls me to be transformed into your likeness. Help me to trust in your timing, even when I’m weary. Teach me to endure with hope in you and your promises, not frustration. Overflow my heart with your love and the fruit of the Spirit, your divine character. Comfort me with your presence in the delay, and remind me that your promises won’t fail. Give me strength for today and hope for tomorrow in your Son.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Three Things to Meditate Upon

  1. Have you ever had to wait a long time for something you deeply desired? What did you learn when it finally arrived—or didn’t?

  2. Reflect on the many ways God has shown patience with you. How might He be inviting you to show that same patience toward others?

  3. Are there struggles or difficult people in your life right now where God may be teaching you endurance? How can His Spirit guide your response?

Main Takeaways

  • Patience is not weakness; it’s a reflection of God’s character and a fruit of the Spirit.

  • Endurance in trials is inspired by the sure hope we have in Jesus.

  • God's presence in the waiting is just as valuable as the promise we’re waiting for.
