In a world enamored with appearances and surface-level charm, it’s easy to mistake outward beauty for inner goodness. But Scripture reminds us of a life-altering truth: what’s on the inside matters most.

Tonight, Lynette Kittle reflects on this foundational truth, revealing how easy it is to be deceived by external appearances—both in others and ourselves. She challenges us to ask: Are we cultivating hearts that fear the Lord, or are we relying on temporary charm to define us?

This devotional draws us into the deeper heart of God’s wisdom: He looks past facades straight into our hearts. What He values isn’t what’s trendy or eye-catching, but what’s eternal—reverence, humility, and a desire to walk with Him.

As you wind down your day, reflect on the kind of beauty that truly lasts and how we can learn to see others through God’s lens—one that prizes depth over dazzle and character over charisma.

๐Ÿ™ Your Nightly Prayer

Dear Father,
Thank you for looking deeper within us, past our outward appearances, to see through our facades and the walls we put up to be accepted and loved by others.
We invite you to truly reveal and examine our hearts: lead us to repentance and a desire to seek after You, to yield to Your ways in our lives, and to fear You in a reverential way that honors and pleases You.
Change our hearts in a way that transforms and encourages us to love and serve You all the days of our lives.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

๐ŸŒ™ Three Things to Meditate Upon

  1. What matters more to you—how others see you, or how God sees your heart?
Take a few moments to evaluate where your priorities have been lately.

  2. Ask God to examine your heart.
Are there any hidden motives or attitudes He wants to bring to the surface for healing and repentance?

  3. How do you see others?
Do you rush to judgment based on appearances? Ask God to help you see people as He does—through the lens of grace and truth.
