If you’re a parent, especially of young kids, it can be hard to take a moment for yourself without feeling guilty. There’s always another chore, another mess, or another thing that needs your attention.

But rest isn’t laziness. Even Jesus stepped away from the crowds to be alone and pray. Taking time to rest, breathe, and reconnect with God doesn’t mean you love your family any less. It may actually help you love and serve them better.

Takeaways from this episode:
• Rest is not the same thing as laziness.
• Jesus modeled the importance of stepping away and spending time with God.
• You don’t have to earn the right to rest.
• Taking care of yourself can help you care for others.
• Give yourself permission to slow down and be renewed in God’s presence.

The dishes can wait. The laundry can wait. Give yourself permission to rest and remember that God doesn’t need you to run on empty.
