Sharing the Story You Were Meant to Share
When God does a completed work in our lives, it is like a fine pearl. Some wear their pearls for all to see. Others treasure them quietly within the chambers of the heart. Both responses are understandable — the things God does in our lives are often deeply personal and sometimes hard to put into words. But what if the story you have been quietly holding is exactly what someone else needs to hear right now to keep going on their own faith journey?
Psalm 40:3 describes what happens when we share what God has done: He puts a new song in our mouths, a song of praise, and many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. The sharing of our testimony is never just about us. Philip's encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 is a vivid picture of this — a man with genuine questions, a believer willing to share what he knew, and a baptism that followed on a road neither of them planned to travel together. After Philip was suddenly swept away to his next assignment, the eunuch went on his way rejoicing. One person's willingness to open his mouth changed another person's eternity. Our public praise matters to someone else's journey. The trials we counted as too far gone, the places we thought were too messy to share — these are often the very things God intends to turn into praise-filled hope for someone who is walking through the same darkness and desperately needs to know there is a way through.
Bible Verse
"He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD."
— Psalm 40:3, ESV
Ponder Today
- Your public praise matters to someone else's journey. The testimony you carry is not only a record of what God has done for you — it is a potential turning point for someone watching and wondering if God can do the same for them.
- The pearls God has given you were meant to be worn, not only treasured. There is a time to hold something close, but there is also a time to share it. God's works in our lives lose none of their value when they are offered to others — they multiply.
- Philip's willingness to share his faith moved a man to accept Jesus and be baptized. He did not wait for a perfectly prepared setting or a formal invitation. He began with what he knew, from where the man already was, and God did the rest.
- The things we counted as too far gone are often what God intends to turn into someone else's hope. The messy chapters, the hard trials, the places that felt too broken to share — these are exactly the testimonies that reach people who believe their own situation is beyond redemption.
- God is working all things together for good — including the stories we have not yet told. Romans 8:28 is not just a comfort for the present. It is a promise about the future use of what we have been through. Surrender the tender places and watch what God does with them.
A Prayer for You Today
Father God, we thank You for the countless works, miracles, and pearls You have brought forward in our lives — the ones we readily name and the ones we may not even be aware of. Move us to sing a new song of praise unto You, a song that will invoke others to stop and listen, not from our greatness but from Your hand in our lives. Help us to see that You are the One who makes the final call upon every messy, confusing, and seemingly hopeless place in life. We pray for redemption and resurrection that only You can bring, so the very things we counted hopeless will become praise-filled hope for someone else, because of You. May our lives be a spectacle of what You can do, and fill us with the courage to sing, share, and celebrate these stories. In Jesus' holy name, Amen.
